    FAQs

    • What cremation services are available? What does the fee include?
    • There are two types of cremation services available through our partner FurEver After Pet Cremation; Private and Individual. All pets are treated with love and dignity throughout their time in our care, regardless of your choice of service.

      Private cremation: the service fee includes guaranteed private cremation, which means that only your pet is in the chamber. The private cremation service includes;

            - a complimentary fur/feather clipping
            - ink prints of both front feet/paws (where possible, subject to species)

If for any reason you do not wish us to take a fur/feather clipping, please let us know.

Ashes are returned in your choice of a simple silver tin with your pet’s name; a velvet bag with engraved name medallion; or an eco-burial box. Alternatively a range of urns, jewellery and other keepsakes are available to purchase for your pets ashes. We can also place ashes directly in an urn you provide. Ashes are sealed inside a bag to protect them from moisture and spillage. If you plan to scatter your pet’s ashes, please let us know, as we will prepare them accordingly.

Individual cremation: the service fee includes dignified individual cremation with your pet’s ashes scattered in the FurEver garden during a small ceremony we personally conduct. Individual cremation involves the placement of several pets in a shared chamber, but in a dignified manner. There is a small, unavoidable amount of cross-over of ashes between the pets, but all pets in the chamber are being scattered in the same location during the same ceremony. Mementos like fur clippings, ink prints, urns and jewellery can be purchased as additional options to this service. We offer this service to provide an affordable, dignified option for clients who do not wish to have their pets full ashes returned, but want them handled with love and care.

    • What do I receive my pet’s ashes in?
    • Complimentary urns are included in private pet cremation. Your pet’s ashes are returned in your choice of a silver tin with your pet’s name, a velvet bag with engraved name medallion, or an eco-burial box. An extensive range of keepsake jewellery and urns in varying sizes, styles and colours are available on request at the time of placing your order. We can also place ashes directly in an urn you provide. Ashes are sealed inside a bag to protect them from moisture and spillage. If you plan to scatter your pets ashes, please let us know, as we will prepare them accordingly.
    • How do I choose an urn for my pet?
    • An extensive range of keepsake jewellery and urns in varying sizes, styles and colours are available on request at the time of placing your order.
    • What happens to my pet during the cremation process?
    • Once we receive your pet into our care, they will be kept at a very low temperature to prevent any natural decomposition until cremation. During the cremation the gas furnace reaches an extremely high temperature, which results in a combustion process. Our pet’s bodies are made up of a very large quantity of fluid, and the result of this process is that this fluid is evaporated, solid matter combusts and only ash remains. As bones do not always break down to a complete powder form on their own, the ashes are processed to reduce them to a fine powder. This is done for several reasons: the ashes are made more suitable for scattering, able to be placed inside a suitable urn or can be used to create other personal momentos such as glass ornaments and jewellery.
    • Can I view my pet one last time or be present when my pet is cremated? Do you offer same day cremation?
    • Yes, by arrangement. RIP work with FurEver After Pet Cremation, located in Melton, Victoria. There is an additional fee for viewings, as this requires special scheduling to accommodate. FurEver After offers options including a farewell viewing, being present when your pet is placed into their chamber and being present during the full process.

At this time it is not possible for clients to be in the same room as the cremation machine itself, due to safety policies and insurance. As FurEver After is a small, family operation, same day cremation cannot be guaranteed. Please contact RIP to discuss this option.

    • How do I get my pet to you?
    • We are happy to work with you to coordinate the delivery of your pet to our studio in Hepburn Springs VIC. Alternatively, we can discuss shipping options with you based on your location. Services are available to anyone anywhere in Australia and transport options will be discussed at the time of your enquiry.

    • What should I do when my pet passes away?
    • To prepare your pet for any kind of preservation, we recommend moving him or her to a freezer as soon as possible. Before doing so, create an airtight seal around your pet either by placing them in an airtight tupperware container or zip lock bag, or by wrapping them in at least two sealed layers of plastic (plastic bags will work nicely). This will protect them from freezer burn.

Please note: Whilst we will do everything we can to ensure your pet is preserved beautifully, we cannot accept responsibility for pets that have been exposed to bacteria or allowed to thaw out before they reach us. We can only work within the limitations of your pet’s condition at the time we receive him or her.
    • Can I have more than one of my pets cremated together?
    • If you would like your pets cremated together please let us know at the time of your enquiry. Options are available including the comingling of ashes in a single urn.
    • How can I be sure that I will be getting the right ashes back?
    • FurEver After Pet Cremation were inspired to start their business specifically to provide a high quality, compassionate and ethical private cremation service for pets and personally guarantee the return of your pet's ashes. RIP and FurEver After guarantee that your pet is handled with the utmost care and respect at all times.
    • How much ash is left after cremation?
    • For those unfamiliar with the process, it can be quite a shock to see how small the quantity of remaining ashes is after cremation, particularly for small pets. Ashes are the powdered form of our bones, and so the volume of ash remaining is largely determined by the size of a pet’s skeleton.

Please note: the size of your pet’s skeleton (and therefore the volume of their ashes)  is best estimated by your pet’s ideal weight for their age, rather than their actual weight. Your vet can help you determine your pet’s ideal weight for their age and species/breed.
    • Can I provide my own urn?
    • You are welcome to supply an urn yourself and there is no extra fee to do so. However, if you wish us to assist with placing your pet’s ashes in the urn before they are returned to you, it will need to be sent to us prior to cremation.
    • If I buy a different urn later, can you help me transfer the ashes?
    • If you would like to transfer your pet's ashes into a different urn, memento or keepsake jewellery at a later time please let us know and we would be happy to discuss available options with you at the time of your enquiry.
    • Do you offer a scattering service?
    • A scattering service is included in individual cremation with ashes scattered in a small ceremony in the FurEver After gardens. This provides a dignified and loving alternative for clients not seeking return of ashes, but wishing for their pet to be treated with love and care, or as an alternative to burial.

If you wish to scatter your pet’s ashes personally, private cremation includes the return of ashes to you, specially packaged for scattering. Please let us know you intend to scatter your pet’s ashes.
    • How long will it be before my pet's ashes are returned?
    • Please allow up to 1 month for your pet's ashes to be returned after private cremation.

Please allow additional time for cremations combined with other Memoriam services.

Most preservation services can be completed within approximately 6 months. However, each animal - in death, as in life - is different and will require its own tender loving care to ensure that you have a beautiful preserved memento that will stand the test of time.
    • I had my pet cremated elsewhere, but would still like to buy an urn. Do you sell urns separately?
    • An extensive range of urns, momentos and keepsake jewellery in varying sizes, styles and colours are available. If required, we can assist you with the transfer of your pet's ashes to a new urn and would be happy to discuss available options with you at the time of your enquiry.
    • Is there a size limit for pet cremation?
    • Our partners at FurEver After Pet Cremation accommodates pets up to the size of a Grate Dane or Shetland Pony. Currently we are unable to accommodate pets larger than this size.

Or 6 weekly interest free payments from $5.83 with what's this?
