Diaphonisation was first developed in 1977 by the scientists G. Dingerkus and L.D. Uhler, the process of diaphonisation has also been known as clearing and staining. The process uses chemicals which are employed to render the skin of an animal translucent, as well as break down flesh, while dyes are used to colour the bones or cartilage.
